*Remarks:

   Bells by John Meikle, Edinburgh; were
   played from a conventional keyboard,
   though the keys were struck with
   mallets.  Became derelict in the 1870s,
   and was eventually removed; the bells
   were auctioned off in 1890, and only a
   a few survive in various places.

*Technical data:

   Carillon-sized instrument or collection, no longer in existence (defunct), of 23 bells
   Pitch of heaviest bell is unknown
   Keyboard range:     ----  /    ----  
   Transposition is unknown
   There are two missing bass semitones
   The whole instrument was installed in 1699
     with bells made by the maker cited in Remarks above            
   No auxiliary mechanisms known
