   Bells cast by Dyer of Philadelphia
   in 1848; chime and clock erected by
   Francis Stein of Charleston in 1849-50.
   The bells were seized for war materiel
   by the Confederate Army in 1862.
   Since 1976, tower has contained 4
   bells by Paccard, which both swing and
   strike the quarters.

   Pitch of heaviest bell is unknown

   Transposition is unknown
   The arrangement of tones and semitones is unknown.
   The whole instrument was installed in 1850
